Kinja'd!!!

So as some of you know, I am in my 2nd of 3 semesters of my masters program. I enjoy it a lot for the most part. It keeps me busy and the classes are very fun and interesting.

But I feel like all I do is go to school, do homework, work for a design studio, and make weird art and stuff. It's not overwhelming, but I spend a lot of time by myself. I'm well-aware of the differences between being alone and being lonely. That's something more people need to learn about.

Kinja'd!!!

It would be nice to go out for ice cream or go do something interesting with someone once in a while. But I guess that is more on me for not trying much. It seems every time I do, people bail on me.

Can Randall Munroe have some insight?

Seriously though, I feel your pain. People bail on me for shit all the fucking time and it gets really annoying after a while.

It got a lot worse when a bunch of guys moved back to our home office in Detroit but I stayed here. This is something that's hard to explain to people when I say that I like Detroit more than Chicago. Sure, there's plenty of stuff to do... if you don't mind flying solo. I think the last 3 times I went downtown it was by myself. Also, it's weird making friends as an adult.

In other words, the answer to what your tattoos will look like when you're old: still fucking awesome.

You can visit Detroit if you want. Knowing nothing besides you're an opponaut, I would recommend going for dream cruise. When I lived in Wichita I did a lot of road trips, driving around seeing what was out there (lots of farm land if you must know). Here, I have to drive so far to get out of suburbia hell (plus the tolls) that I've taken up cooking as a more suitable hobby.

Dude, tell me about it. I don't drink so 98% of my free time is just me in my apartment because my fraternity/sorority friends' ideas of 'hanging out' is getting completely shit-faced on a Tuesday. Even Purdue's car club (which I'd love to join since I don't know any actual car people) revolves around alcohol. Our Oppo Fourza races every other Sunday is about as social as I get.

Ain't nothing wrong with doing you.

I don't drink either. My sister has similar issues that we do, but she attributes ALL of it on not drinking.

I don't think that's entirely true; but it's hard to find people our age that don't drink to get drunk.

Awesomely creepy at least. I would probably shriek if I ran into him looking like that. Then again, I'm amazed he's still alive.

Truth be told it's an excuse I tell myself to take a little blame off me being an extremely introverted loner, though it does definitely play a role (thanks to family problems with it I avoid alcohol like the plague). That being said you're right, it seems like college kids drink exclusively to get drunk instead of as a social activity. What's your major? I'm in engineering and it seems like if engineering majors aren't doing homework or sleeping they're drinking.
